What does C.A.S.P.E.R. and Quilts have in common?

Quilt 911 CASPER Systems FEMA IPAWS Alerts WarningsBy Judie Protesto Freels

Not Just the Wide Spectrum of Colors.

According to The National Quilting Association, Inc.

The third Saturday in March is officially designated as National Quilting Day, but over the years, observance of National Quilting Day has unofficially expanded to the whole month of March! This year the twenty third annual celebrations will be held March 15, 2014.

You are probably wondering why I am interested in writing about Quilts in my Blog post.  What in the world do Quilts have to do with our 911 C.A.S.P.E.R. Systems?

Community ~ That is what Quilts have to do with our 911 C.A.S.P.E.R. Systems . . . at least to me . . . .

You see, on the Day our Home burnt down receiving Quilts is one of the first things we received –  Six Quilts – to be exact – from our communities Quilting Club.  And not only did they generously give them to us, but they even went out of their way to give each one of us a Quilt of our own – AND they went through the love to give us a Quilt that was going to special for each of us.  My youngest daughter got a Quilt that had little cute bunnies on it, my youngest son got a Quilt that had Snoopy on it, my two older daughters received pretty girl Quilts and my oldest son got a nice boys Quilt.  Then they even gave one to Chuck and I that was so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes.

We knew instantly that they were going to be keepsakes for the rest of our lives.  The beautiful detail that went into these Quilts was breathtaking.  To them, they probably only thought they would keep us warm, to us it was an embodiment of love from our new Community.  To this day, as I wrap the Quilt around me, It brings back the Good that happened that day.

This is just one of the examples of the love we received from our Community.  To me, this is what Community is all about.  Being there for each other during times of Good . . . . and then being there during the times of the inevitable Bad . . . .

That is what we think C.A.S.P.E.R. will do for Communities all over the United States.  Being there quietly during the Good times, but instantly being able to be put in action during the Bad times when they happen – providing Alerts and Warnings through FEMA’s IPAWS and also letting Authorized persons such as your local 911 Dispatchers provide other Alerts and Warnings that may not be sanctioned by FEMA’s IPAWS using our C.A.S.P.E.R. Alerts feature.  Giving you complete control over directing your Community Before, During and After Emergency incidents.

To better understand C.A.S.P.E.R. we strongly encourage you to take the couple of minutes to go through one of our Webinars.  We offer Webinars since, although our ‘How It Works’ page helps you get an understanding of C.A.S.P.E.R., so go right now and request a Webinar from us so we can go over everything in a more visual way.  Or just give us a quick call and set one up.
