Do You Know How Much Volunteers Save You in Taxes?

Fire Volunteering CHOPS donated time 911 CASPER SystemsStatistics Don’t Lie

The next time you see a Volunteer – helping any nonprofit Organizations – say Thank you!

Why – well it’s probably not what your initial thought would be.

You know my passion goes out to Firefighter volunteers and Rescue Squad volunteers due to my years of volunteering within these non-profit Organizations – so that is no secret. However, volunteers come in all types of shapes and sizes, personalities and skill sets, passion – and some are just putting in time.

For instance, when one of my daughters had to have surgery while she was in first grade, we took her to the Children’s Hospital Of Philadelphia – CHOP’s for short. The staff and volunteers were so amazing! They were so kind and loving to my daughter. They could all easily tell that she was scared, but the way they just embraced her making her feel so welcomed brought tears to my eyes. Even though they were all so great with her, it was even more impressive to watch the Volunteers – Such devotion they gave to my daughter during their ‘free’ time was truly a testament to their personality and character. As you can tell from me writing this, even after years and years it still has left a strong presence in my heart.

I am proud to say that many of the Community Members whom I have helped over the years still remember me and come up to me to Thank me. It really is the little things – and Thank you’s – that do mean the most.

However this is not even why I am telling you to go and Thank the Volunteers in your Communities. Did you ever stop and think about how much money in Taxes Volunteers help save their Communities? Well, you can go to the Independent Sector’s Value of Volunteer Time and have a look at what the estimated value of volunteer time for 2013 was for your State.

According to a 2013 report by the National Fire Protection Association, it estimates that the monetary value of donated time from volunteer firefighters is $139.8 billion (The Total Cost of Fire in the United States, NFPA, March 2014). Yikes, that is a lot of money in donations – or if you have to do your own fundraising – and this is just for this one volunteering field alone!

Can you even imagine how much that would be if every Non-Profit Organization was added together – that is a LOT of TAX MONEY SAVED – and money that is being saved by you in other Organizations too! For instance, in CHOP’s I mentioned above. If you had to ‘pay’ for the Volunteer’s services, you know the expense would end up coming back to you to pay – somehow. But due to their donation of their time, it saves you – in more ways than one.

So again, THANK YOU to all of you Volunteers. Thank you for your time, Thank you for your passion, Thank you for your Kindness and Love! For without you, Communities would not be all what they would be cracked up to be.

Did you know that C.A.S.P.E.R. helps with keeping your Taxes down too?  He will help your nonprofit organization raise the needed Donations to help you with the needed purchases so your Organization can keep up to Standards – without raising your Communities Taxes – and despite Budge Cuts.
