Your Community is Only as Safe as its First Responders.
When Chuck had to do training while in the fire department and rescue squad, it had to be done during the nights and on weekends. Anyone who wanted to get that training had to fit their schedule around the training dates. Most of the time, they had to travel to far away locations to even attend. And if they missed a training session, it was very difficult to make it up. Needless to say it was difficult as a family to fit within that requirement. With having five young children at the time, I had practices to get them to, games to watch, jugging all of their schedules – and now having to juggles Chuck’s too, well . . . . it was difficult; And not to mention that it cost money for Chuck to go to the training as well. Yes, the Department did try to help out, but usually the funds they had to allocate, were not enough to cover all who wanted to get the training.
And the training is important! To me, it was mandatory for Chuck to go so that I knew he was properly trained to stay safe. Ok, Ok, some days I cared a bit less about his safety then others – hey we have been married for a long time . . . .
To get back on point – With ongoing budget cuts and lessening donations coming in, it is becoming more difficult for Departments to even help out with the costs. So a lot of organizations are not making it mandatory for the training; and for the volunteers who can’t pull the full costs, they are opting to not get the training and putting it on the back burner. Huge mistake. Your Community is only as safe as its first responders training.
One of our Partners, Achievers Education and Training, has helped tackle this growing problem face on. They have training on-line that will help keep our men and woman safe. The best part is that you can do it when it fits into your schedule, around soccer games, and baseball games so that you can still be a part of your family while also pursuing your passion – and the costs are very reasonable. The benefits – priceless – since it is helping the people who are already putting their lives at stake stay safer and the Communities payback is that the volunteers are there, trained, when they need help.
We Partnered with Achievers Education and Training because we know how important their service is to non-profit organizations such as fire and rescue and we wanted to include their services as a key component within our Team. Yes, they offer a ton of other courses too; in business, retail and other aspects, but their fire and rescue courses are an intricate part of keeping our Communities safe – by keeping our volunteers trained properly.
To keep a Community safe requires many moving parts. Here are just a few of the obvious ones:
- Communities need funding,
- Communities need to keep their Community educated and informed as to impending emergencies and disasters – where they can go for help is just one of the key structures they need to have in place,
AND when emergencies and disasters do happen – and they will –
- Communities need to keep their volunteer organizations trained properly so they can minimize chaos and deaths.
While CASPER plays a crucial part with the first two aspects; funding and communication before, during, and after emergency and disasters, it is essential to have the ‘boots on the ground’ responding to all of the numerous situations that can, and do, arise during these stressful times.
Why wait until it is too late to be prepared. Contact us today, get CASPER in place to create the residual stream on donations for your nonprofit organization, keep your Community informed, and get your volunteers the training they need!
